Installing your Live Camera System Box:

Install your GPX Stream Live Camera System (LCS) Box in a clean, dry, low-traffic place within your car.  Avoid areas that are prone to excessive heat, and try to keep the system and its wiring as far from any radio antennas or antenna cables as possible.

Affix two strips of dual lock to the bottom of the LCS Box, being careful not to cover the ventilation openings in the bottom of the LCS Box housing.

After cleaning your chosen mounting surface in your vehicle, place dual lock strips so that they lay perpendicular to the direction of the dual lock on the bottom of your LCS Box for best results.

Keep in mind that the components of the LCS are not waterproof.

Installing your Power Harness:

Depending on the model of your chosen Power Harness, your exact installation will vary.  Follow the instructions supplied with your Power Harness for details.

Place the USB receptacles of your Power Harness within close proximity of the LCS Box.

Use cable ties to mount the Power Harness securely, and to create a strain relief to reduce the likelihood of the cables becoming disconnected during use.

Take precautions to avoid radio antennas and other electronically disruptive or noisy devices (helmet blowers, cool suits, etc) as much as possible. (Proximity of the radio antenna to USB cables and devices can disrupt or prevent proper functioning of the LCS system).

Installing your Modem:

Use the supplied roll bar mount, swivel link, and screw base to securely mount the Modem in your vehicle.  The mount should be placed within close proximity of the LCS Box when possible, to avoid using any extensions to the Modem’s USB cable (eliminating potential failure points).   Affix the Modem to the screw base, being sure to tighten the plastic mounting plate onto the bottom of the Modem.  Adjust the swivel link to optimize the placement of the Modem, and be sure to tighten all of the links once complete to avoid unwanted movement and vibration of the mount.

The Modem antennas should not be in contact with any other surfaces or components to avoid interference or blocking of the cellular signal.  When possible, consider using the included larger antennas for optimal cellular signal.

Plug the LEMO plug of the Modem USB harness (cylindrical metal silver connector) into the Modem, being careful to find the correct orientation of the LEMO plug to avoid damaging the internal pins.

Plug the USB 2.0 male plug from the Modem USB Harness into the front of the LCS Box.

Installing your Camera Kit (where applicable):

Use the supplied roll bar mount, swivel link, and screw base to securely mount the Camera in your vehicle.  Adjust the swivel link to optimize the placement of the Camera, and be sure to tighten all of the links once complete to avoid unwanted movement and vibration of the mount.  If the Camera is mounted on the outside of your vehicle, keep in mind that the components are NOT waterproof, and consider using a protective film to prevent damage on the Camera lens.

Plug the mini-USB plug from the Camera Kit USB harness into the back of the Camera.  Use cable ties to mount the USB cable securely, and to create a strain relief to reduce the likelihood of the min-USB plug disconnecting from the Camera during use.

Route the Camera Kit USB harness cable between the Camera and the LCS Box, using cable ties to mount the USB cable securely, and taking precautions to avoid radio antennas and other electronically disruptive or noisy devices (helmet blowers, cool suits, etc) as much as possible. (Proximity of the radio antenna to USB cables and devices can disrupt or prevent proper functioning of the LCS system).

The Camera Kit USB harness has two standard USB 2.0 male plugs.  The male plug with a SINGLE wire coming from it must always be connected to the Power Harness.  The male plug with TWO wires coming from it must always be connected to the front of the LCS Box.  Failure to connect these plugs to the proper locations will prevent proper functionality of the LCS system.

Installing your VBOX Integration Kit (where applicable):

Install your HDMI to USB Encoder Box within close proximity of the LCS Box, paying attention to the orientation of the Encoder Box to minimize strain on cables and plugs.  If HDMI to USB Encoder Box is mounted directly to the LCS Box, be sure not to cover the ventilation holes on the top of the LCS Box.

Plug the HDMI cable into the VBOX.

Plug the HDMI cable into the HDMI to USB Encoder Box.  Use cable ties to mount the HDMI cable securely, and to create a strain relief to reduce the likelihood of the HDMI plug coming out of the Encoder Box during use.

Plug the USB 3.0 plug from the VBOX Integration Kit USB harness into the HDMI to USB Encoder Box.  Use cable ties to mount the USB cable securely, and to create a strain relief to reduce the likelihood of the USB 3.0 plug coming out of the Encoder Box during use.

Route the VBOX Integration Kit USB harness cable between the Encoder Box and the LCS Box, using cable ties to mount the USB cable securely, and taking precautions to avoid radio antennas and other electronically disruptive or noisy devices (helmet blowers, cool suits, etc) as much as possible. (Proximity of the radio antenna to USB cables and devices can disrupt or prevent proper functioning of the LCS system).

The VBOX Integration Kit USB harness has two standard USB 2.0 male plugs.  The male plug with a SINGLE wire coming from it must always be connected to the Power Harness.  The male plug with TWO wires coming from it must always be connected to the front of the LCS Box.  Failure to connect these plugs to the proper locations will prevent proper functionality of the LCS system.

NOTE: Be sure that your VBOX Scene file has “HDMI Output” Video Feed set to ON.

Using your Live Camera System:

When the LCS Box receives power, it will begin the booting process automatically.  You will see a red LED on the right side of the LCS Box—this indicates that the system is receiving power.

From the time that the system begins booting, it requires 90 seconds (120 seconds if using VBOX Integration Kit) before the system is ready to initiate a call and begin streaming video.  During this booting process, the system is starting critical background programs, initializing USB devices, establishing cellular connection, and finally idling the computer processor.

Failure to respect the 90 seconds (120 seconds if using VBOX Integration Kit) booting time before attempting to initiate a video session could cause the system to boot improperly, potentially requiring a power-cycle procedure to function normally.

As soon as the LCS Box receives power, the Modem also receives power, which can be confirmed by a blue LED illuminated on the top of the Modem.  Typically within 30-60 seconds from the time that the system begins booting, a second blue LED on the top of the Modem will illuminate, indicating that the Modem has successfully connected to a network.  If you have recently changed SIM cards, travelled to a new locale, or are in an area with weak connectivity, it could take longer than 60 seconds for the Modem to connect to a network—in this case, it will not be possible to initiate a video session until both blue LEDs are illuminated and the system has connected to a network.

In the case of an installation with a Camera Kit, the proper functionality of the Camera can be observed by a flashing amber LED on the top of the Camera.  No manual intervention is required to turn-on the Camera, and buttons on the Camera should never be pressed.  If the mini-USB connected to the Camera is unplugged during a video session, the call must be ended, the mini-USB reconnected, and a new video session initiated for the Camera to resume functioning.

Troubleshooting:

In the event of issues, the following steps should be taken to assess the potential cause for issues before contacting GPX Stream support.

-Check for red LED illuminated on right side of LCS Box; if no red LED is illuminated, proceed to check Power Harness connections and/or integrity of power source.  Check connection of the male USB plug with a SINGLE wire coming from it to Power Harness.  Check connection of the male plug with TWO wires coming from into the front of the LCS Box.

-Check for blue LEDs (2) illuminated on top of Modem; if neither blue LED is illuminated, proceed to check the LEMO plug connection on the side of the Modem and the USB plug on the front of the LCS Box.  If only a single blue LED is illuminated, check that the Modem has a properly configured SIM card installed.  Check that the carrier of the SIM card has connectivity in that area on a mobile phone or tablet.  Check that Modem antennas are installed.  Check that modem is not installed in an area with high interference.

For Camera Kit ONLY:

If video sessions ‘connect’ but no video is visible within 30-seconds of connection: Check that amber LED on top of Camera is slow-flashing repeatedly once the LCS box is powered-on.  If the amber LED is solid, unplug the mini-USB from the back of the Camera, and re-plug into the Camera—within 10 seconds, LED should begin to flash and Camera should function properly.  The buttons on the Camera should never be pressed—in the case that a button is pressed inadvertently, disconnect the Camera from the mini-USB, wait for the Camera to shutdown, and re-plug the Camera to the mini-USB; the settings will automatically return to the correct defaults.

For VBOX Integration Kit ONLY:

If video sessions ‘connect’ but no video is visible within 30-seconds of connection: Check that the HDMI cable is securely connected into the VBOX unit.  Check that the HDMI cable is securely connected into the HDMI to USB Encoder Box.  Check that the USB 3.0 plug is securely connected to the HDMI to USB Encoder Box.  Check connection of the male USB plug with a SINGLE wire coming from it to Power Harness.  Check connection of the male plug with TWO wires coming from into the front of the LCS Box.
