How It Works
HOW IT WORKS
The GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ works with a camera-connected LTE device in the car (LCS Box), using video-chat technology to stream the onboard video feed to an internet connected device in the pits (or anywhere else in the world!). The LCS Box can be connected to a camera for simple video transmission, or integrated with a Video VBOX HD2 HDMI system to transmit video with live data overlays. On the transmitting side, the car-system requires 12V power and a venue with good LTE bandwidth and coverage. On the receiving side, any internet-connected device with the capability of running Skype (either Skype Application or web-browser version of Skype are sufficient) can receive the live video stream.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What cars are GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ compatible with?
The GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ can be used in almost any type of car, from GT and Touring cars to Prototypes and even Open Wheel cars. Cars will need to be capable of providing steady 12V power to one of our range of Power Harness options, while providing a clean, dry, low-traffic space for the installation of the LCS Box. Cameras can be mounted inside or outside the car, though users should take note that the Live Camera System™️ is NOT waterproof, and the system and its components should not be left exposed to the elements.
Is there any delay in the GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ video?
Generally speaking, there is virtually no delay in the video stream from the GPX Stream Live Camera System™️. Actual results will vary depending on conditions for use. With strong 4G/LTE coverage and no bandwidth limitations to the LCS transmitting or receiving systems, users can generally expect delay of under 0.5sec. As conditions for use deteriorate (obstructions or interference with cellular signal, lack of available bandwidth, or excessive heat) users may notice increased delay, in addition to decreased video resolution and lower video frame rate.
What video quality can I expect from my GPX Stream Live Camera System™️?
Video quality of the GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ is almost completely dependent on the strength and quality of the cellular signal at a given venue. With strong 4G/LTE coverage and no bandwidth limitations to the LCS transmitting or receiving systems, users can generally expect to target 480p resolution while viewing on most mobile devices, with up to 1080p possible while viewing on a PC or similar. As conditions for use deteriorate (obstructions or interference with cellular signal, lack of available bandwidth, or excessive heat) users may notice a reduction in video quality.
Can I install my own GPX Stream Live Camera System™️?
Absolutely! The GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ is designed to be as straightforward and user-friendly as possible. The entire Live Camera System™️ is modular, with custom configurations available to suit many different applications. Check out our YouTube channel HERE for a step-by-step installation guide.
What other equipment will I need in order to make my GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ work?
To complete a GPX Stream Live Camera System™️, users will need:
- Live Camera System (LCS) Box
- Camera Kit or VBOX Integration Kit
- Modem
- Power Harness
Can I move my GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ from car to car?
Of course! There is nothing stopping users from using their GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ in multiple cars or wherever they'd like. However, care should be taken to ensure that the installation is sturdy and that plugs, cables, and mounts are not broken or compromised while the Live Camera System™️ is installed or uninstalled frequently. Users could consider leaving a Camera Kit or VBOX Integration Kit as a permanent fixture in each car, and moving only the LCS Box and Modem as necessary to streamline this process.
Can I use my GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ outside North America?
The GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ will work anywhere there is a sufficient 4G/LTE signal, and Skype communications are not prohibited by local laws or regulations. In order to use the Live Camera System™️ outside of North America, users should be sure that their Modem is appropriate for their location (specific models for North America, Europe, Asia) and that SIM cards are compatible for local cellular access with 4G/LTE speed. GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ will not work in countries that are geo-blocked from using Skype and other video-chat services due to local laws or regulations.
Can I use a battery to power my GPX Stream Live Camera System™️?
While certain lithium-ion batteries provide sufficient power to effectively utilize the GPX Stream Live Camera System™️, we highly recommend using a hard-wired Power Harness for maximum user safety and minimal risk of interference to the power supply.
Is it legal for me to use my GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ during a race?
Please consult the rules and regulations of your particular series to see if GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ or similar technologies are allowed.
Do I need to be track-side to see the video stream from my GPX Stream Live Camera System™️?
Definitely not! GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ transmission can be viewed anywhere in the world where a receiving device has sufficient internet and regulatory access to Skype.
Can multiple people view the GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ video stream simultaneously?
Currently, the GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ only supports a "point-to-point" system, meaning that one LCS Box can only transmit live video to one receiving device at a time. However, development is underway to offer broadcast options so that Live Camera System™️ output can be shared to multiple viewers.
Can I overlay data or graphics onto my GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ video?
Currently, GPX Stream Live Camera System™️ supports integration with the Racelogic Video VBOX HD2 HDMI, allowing users to stream the entirety of their Video VBOX Scene via the Live Camera System™️ while simultaneously maintaining all of the recording and data logging features of the Racelogic Video VBOX. In order to utilize this feature, users will need to ensure that they have an HDMI-equipped Racelogic Video VBOX HD2, as well as a VBOX Integration Kit, and a properly configured VBOX Scene file.
