How GPX Stream works

GPX Stream is a live-streaming system designed for motorsport. A camera or video data logger in the car sends video over 5G to our cloud, and from there it reaches your pit wall, race control, your fans or anywhere else in the world, with ultra low latency (0.6s – 1.2s).

Capture

Pick the video source that fits your car.

  • HDMI HDMI Camera or video data logger with a live HDMI output, such as a VBOX HD2, VBOX HD1, or Race Navigator RN PRO.
  • USB-C USB-C Camera with USB-C connection. Bullet, rugged and broadcast quality cameras are available.
  • SDI SDI Camera or video data logger with a live SDI output, such as an AiM SmartyCam3 or AiM SmartyCam4. Uses the optional SDI to HDMI converter.

Transmit

GPX Mobile sends it over 5G.

How it works: common questions

What's included in a GPX Stream kit?

The GPX Mobile kit includes everything needed to stream live from the car: the GPX Mobile device, an HD USB-C bullet camera, a mounting kit matched to your type of car, cables, a charger, and a travel case. An active GPX Stream subscription is required to operate the device.

Optional add-ons: GPX Mobile onboard power harnesses for continuous charging, SDI to HDMI conversion kit for video data loggers such as the AiM SmartyCam3 or SmartyCam4, and Rugged Bullet Cameras.

How do you live stream from the track?

GPX Stream captures video from an onboard camera or video data logger, and prepares it to be sent over cellular networks to dedicated cloud servers, where authorized viewers watch it live in GPX Dash with ultra low latency (0.6s – 1.2s).

Here's the process step by step:

  1. Capture: Using an external USB-C/HDMI camera, or a video data logger connected by HDMI or SDI, provides the video.
  2. Transmit: The GPX Mobile device encodes the video and sends it over our prioritized 5G global data connectivity, with multi-network access around the world. Our team can remotely switch between available networks to help optimize performance for your location, giving you expert assistance as conditions change.
  3. Watch: Engineers, coaches, and race control view the stream live in GPX Dash, where they can also start, stop, and adjust the stream remotely. Friends and Family can watch the private stream via GPX Watch.
  4. Share: Feeds can be re-streamed at the same time to GPX Watch, YouTube, Twitch, race control, or broadcast partners.

Video quality can be adjusted from 360p to 1080p based on network conditions at the track.

How can I live stream from my VBOX?

To live stream from your VBOX, plug the GPX Mobile into your VBOX using the HDMI cable included in the kit. GPX Stream works with Racelogic VBOX HD1, VBOX HD2 with live video output and Race Navigator RN PRO systems, as well as any video data logger with live video output enabled.

Once connected, the GPX Mobile streams your VBOX video, including telemetry overlays, live to GPX Dash over 5G global data connectivity. For worry-free streaming, add our optional VBOX power harness.

How can I live stream from my AiM SmartyCam?

To live stream from your AiM SmartyCam, add SDI to HDMI conversion kit to your GPX Stream kit. Plug your SmartyCam into the converter, then connect the converter to the GPX Mobile using the HDMI cable included in the kit. GPX Stream works with AiM SmartyCam3 with live video output as well as any video data logger with live video output.

Once connected, the GPX Mobile streams your SmartyCam video, including telemetry overlays, live to GPX Dash over 5G global data connectivity.

Is a subscription required?

Yes, an active subscription is required to operate GPX Stream devices. The subscription includes important features like access to GPX Dash, prioritized 5G global data connectivity, industry-leading support and more! Most importantly, you can pause, start or cancel your subscription at any time!
