Frequently Asked Questions
About GPX Stream
What is GPX Stream?
GPX Stream is a turnkey live onboard camera system for motorsport that streams video from the car to the pit wall, race control, or anywhere in the world with less than one second of delay. Each system includes the streaming device, camera, mounts, and 5G global data connectivity, so teams can go live in minutes. In short, GPX Stream live streams from race cars.
Motorsport teams, race series, manufacturers, driving coaches, and race control use GPX Stream for live onboard camera streaming from the car. Watch every feed in GPX Dash, our online racing video dashboard, or send it to YouTube, Twitch, and broadcast partners. Each subscription includes 5G global data connectivity and direct support from our motorsport specialists.
Who uses GPX Stream?
GPX Stream is used by race series, manufacturers, race teams, drivers, driving coaches, and race control to watch live onboard video during testing, practice, qualifying, and races.
- Race series and organizers use GPX Stream to offer live onboard feeds across the grid and to supply footage to broadcast partners. Series using GPX Stream include GT World Challenge America, Pirelli GT4 America, Porsche Sprint Challenge, and more.
- Manufacturers use GPX Stream in pre-production testing, client hospitality, rally and ice experiences, and other events where client visibility is key.
- Race teams and engineers watch every car live from the pit wall and can instantly review cloud recordings without waiting for the return of an SD card.
- Driving coaches give feedback in real time instead of waiting for the car to come in.
- Race control uses live onboards to review incidents as they happen.
- Drivers share their stream with friends and family through GPX Watch, or stream to their own YouTube or Twitch channel.
- Private motorsport country clubs such as The Concours Club use GPX Stream so members, instructors, and guests can watch live onboard video from the clubhouse or anywhere else, and review sessions right after they come off track.
What's included in a GPX Stream kit?
The GPX Mobile kit includes everything needed to stream live from the car: the GPX Mobile device, an HD bullet camera, a mounting kit matched to your type of car, cables, a charger, and a travel case. An active GPX Stream subscription is required to operate the device.
In the box:
GPX Mobile device with touchscreen and internal battery
HD bullet camera with extension cable
HDMI cable
USB-C wall charger
Compact soft-sided travel case
Mounting kit for your car type:
- Roll bar mounts for GT and closed-cockpit race cars
- Surface mounts for open wheel cars
- Suction mounts for street cars and track days
Optional add-ons: GPX Mobile onboard power harnesses for continuous charging, SDI to HDMI conversion kit for data loggers such as the AiM SmartyCam3, and Rugged Bullet Cameras.
What is a live onboard camera system for motorsport?
A live onboard camera system is a camera and streaming device mounted inside a race car that sends real-time video over a cellular network while the car is on track. Unlike a standard onboard camera that records for review later, the GPX Mobile by GPX Stream lets engineers, coaches, and race control watch as it happens.
A complete system has three parts: a camera (or a video feed from a data logger like a VBOX HD1 and VBOX HD2, RN PRO, or AiM SmartyCam3), a device that compresses and transmits the video, and a reliable cellular connection.
GPX Stream combines all three in a single kit built for the vibration, heat, and coverage challenges of a race circuit.
How do you live stream from the track?
GPX Stream captures video from an onboard camera or data logger, compresses it inside the car, and sends it over cellular networks to our cloud servers, where authorized viewers watch it live in GPX Dash with 0.6 to 1.2s of latency.
Here's the process step by step:
- Capture: Using an external USB-C/HDMI camera, or a data logger connected by HDMI or SDI, provides the video.
- Transmit: The GPX Mobile device encodes the video and sends it over our 5G global data network, which we can switch between carriers to stay connected at circuits where a single cellular network falls short.
- Watch: Engineers, coaches, and race control view the stream live in GPX Dash, where they can also start, stop, and adjust the stream remotely. Friends and Family can watch the private stream via GPX Watch.
- Share: Feeds can be re-streamed at the same time to GPX Watch, YouTube, Twitch, race control, or broadcast partners.
Video quality can be adjusted from 360p to 1080p based on network conditions at the track.
How much does a live onboard camera system cost?
A GPX Stream system starts from $2,900 USD for the GPX Mobile kit, plus a monthly subscription that includes 5G global data connectivity, access to GPX Dash, and industry-leading support. Subscriptions can be paused or cancelled at any time.
Two subscription plans are available:
- LITE: $115/month. Includes one viewer and the essential features to get started.
- PRO: $250/month. Includes 10 viewers, cloud recording, GPX Watch for sharing with friends and family, and streaming to YouTube or Twitch.
Teams running several cars, or series equipping a full grid, can contact our partnerships team at support@gpxstream.com about enterprise pricing.
For Teams & Drivers
What is the best live stream kit for my race team?
GPX Stream is the best live stream kit for race teams because it was built specifically for motorsport and works at circuits around the world with no track-side setup. Every subscription includes 5G global data connectivity that automatically switches between carriers, so your team doesn't need to check coverage at each track on your calendar.
Mount the device, power it on, and your engineers, coaches, and team managers can watch live in GPX Dash within minutes. It works with data loggers like the VBOX HD2 and AiM SmartyCam3, moves between cars in minutes, and is backed by industry leading Global Support from our motorsport specialists.
What's the best way to watch a driver's onboard camera live from the pit wall?
The easiest way to watch a driver's onboard camera live from the pit wall is with a dedicated live onboard system like the GPX Mobile from GPX Stream, which sends video from the car to a phone, tablet, or laptop in 0.6 to 1.2 seconds over 5G global data connectivity.
Engineers and crew log in to GPX Dash from any device with an internet connection. From there, they can watch the stream live, start and stop it remotely, and adjust video quality to suit conditions at the track. Because GPX Stream runs over cellular networks, the same feed works from the pit wall, the paddock, the team truck, or the factory back home.
How can driving coaches use live onboard video?
Driving coaches use GPX Stream to watch a driver's lines, braking points, and inputs in real time, so they can give feedback over the radio or as soon as the car comes in, instead of waiting to review footage after the session.
With GPX Stream, coaches can:
- Watch every lap live from anywhere, including remotely when they can't be at the track
- Create clips in GPX Dash and download them to share with the driver for debriefs (available with a PRO subscription)
- Connect a data logger like a VBOX HD2 or AiM SmartyCam3 to see telemetry overlays on the live video
Coaches can be added to a driver's account as viewers, so they get access to the stream without needing their own device.
How can I live stream from my VBOX?
To live stream from your VBOX, plug the GPX Mobile into your VBOX using the HDMI cable included in the kit. GPX Stream works with Racelogic VBOX HD1 and HD2 systems, as well as any data logger with live video output enabled.
Once connected, the GPX Mobile streams your VBOX video, including telemetry overlays, live to GPX Dash over 5G global data connectivity. For worry-free streaming, add our optional VBOX power harness.
How can I live stream from my AiM SmartyCam?
To live stream from your AiM SmartyCam, add SDI to HDMI conversion kit to your GPX Stream kit. Plug your SmartyCam into the converter, then connect the converter to the GPX Mobile using the HDMI cable included in the kit. GPX Stream works with AiM SmartyCam3 systems, as well as any data logger with live video output enabled.
Once connected, the GPX Mobile streams your SmartyCam video, including telemetry overlays, live to GPX Dash over 5G global data connectivity.
How can I live stream without a data logger?
You can live stream without a data logger by using the HD bullet camera included with every GPX Mobile kit. Mount the camera in the car, connect it to the GPX Mobile, and your onboard video streams live to GPX Dash over 5G global data connectivity.
For street cars and open wheel cars, where the bullet camera will be your primary video source, Rugged Bullet Cameras are also available.
The GPX Mobile is also compatible with most HDMI and USB-C cameras. If you have questions about a specific camera model, contact our team at support@gpxstream.com
How can I live stream from multiple cars?
To live stream from multiple cars at the same time, each car needs its own GPX Stream device and active subscription. All of your devices can then be viewed live from a single GPX Dash account, so you can follow every car on track.
Each PRO subscription includes 10 GPX Dash viewers per device, so engineers, coaches, team managers, and anyone else on your crew can watch at once. Additional viewers can be added for $20 per month. Device owners are included automatically and don't count toward the viewer limits.
For teams running several cars or series equipping a full grid, our partnerships team offers enterprise accounts. Contact support@gpxstream.com to learn more.
Can I move my GPX Stream device between cars?
Yes. The GPX Mobile is fully portable and transfers from one car to another in minutes, so if you're running a T car or switching between cars during a weekend, a single device and subscription can follow whichever car is on track.
Your stream, settings, and GPX Dash viewers stay the same, so your team keeps watching without any extra setup.
If you're moving between different types of cars, such as a GT car and an open wheel car, just make sure each car has the right mount installed.
Second car kits are available!
Does GPX Stream transmit live telemetry?
GPX Stream transmits video, including any telemetry graphics your compatible data logger has already overlaid on that video. GPX Stream does not receive or transmit raw telemetry data.
Compatibility depends on your data logger’s video output and any required adapters. Contact support@gpxstream.com with any questions.
For Series, Broadcasters, and Manufacturers
How can a race series offer live onboard video for every car on the grid?
A race series can offer live onboard video for every car by equipping each entry with a GPX Mobile, which streams over 5G global data connectivity with no track-side infrastructure required. Every feed can then be viewed in GPX Dash, sent to broadcast, or shared with fans.
Feeds integrate with industry-standard broadcast production and can be forwarded to TV partners, YouTube, Twitch, and multi-viewer platforms like Vbrick. For example, SRO America pairs GPX Stream in-car feeds with live timing and broadcast coverage on its multi-viewer platform for GT World Challenge America.

How does race control use live onboard cameras?
Race control uses live onboard cameras to see incidents from inside the car as they happen, helping officials make faster, more confident decisions on safety and penalties.
GPX Stream gives officials multi-view displays to monitor many cars at once, plus cloud recording to rewind, replay, and review incidents instantly. Feeds from data loggers can include telemetry overlays for added context.
How can event organizers turn onboard footage into content for social media, recaps, and sponsors?
Manufacturers use GPX Stream to bring guests inside the car in real time, whether that's in a race weekend hospitality suite, during a ride and drive program, or at a specialty driving experience. Every onboard streams live in 0.6 to 1.2 seconds and can be shown on any screen, from a lounge display to a guest's own phone.
- Hospitality: At multi-manufacturer events, each brand can show its cars from a shared feed, keeping the experience focused on their drivers and partners.
- Ride and drive programs: Guests waiting their turn can watch others on track live, and instructors can coach drivers remotely without riding along.
- Specialty experiences: From ice driving experiences to track days and owner events, live onboards let guests, families, and VIPs follow the action from the comfort of a lounge.
GPX Stream cloud recordings and clips can also be shared with guests afterward, giving them a lasting memory of their experience with the brand.

Global Connectivity & Streaming
What makes GPX Stream different?
GPX Stream is a complete, turnkey motorsport live-streaming solution, combining low-latency onboard video, global 5G connectivity, and dedicated motorsport support. Every part of the experience is designed to help drivers, coaches, and teams stay connected—from initial setup to live sessions at the circuit.
Our professional-grade SIM connectivity provides access to cellular networks around the world. Our team can remotely switch between available networks to help optimize performance for your location, giving you expert assistance as conditions change.
Behind the technology is a team that understands motorsport and the demands of a race weekend. Whether you need help getting connected, configuring your system, or troubleshooting trackside, our specialists can assist remotely to keep your focus on the session.
5G availability and streaming performance depend on local coverage and network conditions.
What is the best connectivity for live streaming in motorsport?
GPX Stream's 5G cellular connectivity is the best option for most motorsport live streaming today, especially for in-car onboard cameras. It works at circuits around the world, allowing us to always toggle you to the best network, and delivers near real-time video. GPX Stream includes 5G global data connectivity with every subscription, with average latency of 0.6 to 1.2 seconds.
Do GPX Stream systems already come with SIM cards? Can I use my own SIM cards?
GPX Stream devices come with high-priority 5G Global SIM cards preinstalled and configured. The use of our SIM cards is required for device connectivity. Consumer-grade and prepaid SIM cards simply do not come close to the level of quality needed when ultra-low latency, stable, uninterrupted live streaming is required.
Furthermore, we know that cellular networks can work great at some circuits, and not at all at others. GPX Stream SIM cards work across dozens of networks, globally and can be remotely supported by our team.
Privacy & Recordings
How long are live streams stored on GPX Stream?
PRO Subscribers can access their GPX Stream cloud recordings for 72 hours. Any clips created in GPX Dash will be available for up to 30 days. You can download any clips to your personal device for permanent storage.
Can GPX Stream access my videos?
GPX Stream monitors streams for quality assurance. We do not moderate your content or distribute it to third-party audiences on your behalf unless you request a sharing or streaming integration, or where it is required by a sanctioning body. See our Privacy Policy for details about how we handle your information.
What is the difference between GPX Dash and GPX Watch?
GPX Dash viewers are authorized users who can watch your low-latency stream and remotely control your device, including starting or stopping streaming and adjusting settings. Only the account owner or an authorized account manager can add or remove GPX Dash viewers.
GPX Watch lets friends and family watch without access to device controls. GPX Watch has approximately 10–15 seconds of delay; use GPX Dash for low-latency viewing and remote coaching.
Is my live stream private?
Your privacy is at your control! Access depends on how you choose to share your stream. GPX Dash access is restricted to the device owner and authorized GPX Dash viewers. These viewers can watch the low-latency stream remotely and access device controls.
If you enable GPX Watch or streaming to an external platform, your stream is also accessible through those destinations.
Can I stream outside of GPX Dash?
Yes! GPX Stream live streams can be configured to stream to GPX Watch, YouTube, Twitch, social media networks, broadcast partners, race control and more!
